What is a Stain?

Skin color is determined by a natural pigment called melanin. The higher the amount of melanin, the darker the skin area appears. When melanin is overproduced, hyperpigmentation occurs in those areas. Hyperpigmentation consists of dark patches of skin that range in shade from light brown to black and can vary in size and shape. In fact, darkening of the skin is one of the body's defense mechanisms. But over time, this can lead to an undesirable appearance resulting in blemishes on the skin.

What is the cause of the stain?

Sun spots, age spots, pregnancy and postpartum spots are most commonly seen on the forehead, nose, around the lips and cheeks. Many factors such as the intensity and duration of exposure to sunlight, the genetic structure of the skin, chemical products used, make-up materials, hormonal factors and especially the use of birth control medications can lead to the formation of spots on the skin. The two most important factors are genetic predisposition and exposure to ultraviolet rays (sunlight). Sun rays cause not only the formation of spots but also the darkening and deepening of already formed spots. However, it is possible to combat all these negativities with conscious protection and the right treatment method.

What are the Conditions When Melanin Amount Increases?

How Long Does Spot Treatment Take?

The duration of spot treatment varies depending on the treatment method used, the depth of the spot, the person's skin type and their response to the treatment. In general, spot treatment can last from a few weeks to several months

Is the Effect of Spot Treatments Permanent?

The result obtained with the treatment is permanent. In the post-treatment period, new spots are likely to form if the factor causing the stain is re-exposed. However, it is possible to combat all these negativities with conscious protection and the right treatment method.
